The Nile Project, Live in El Gouna - Wed 19th October
After concerts at the Lincoln Center in New York, the Barbican in London, and the European Union in Brussels, the Nile Project has landed on your Red Sea shores for a 10-day music residency at the Embassy of Knowledge. We’re only two days into our artist residency and we already don’t want to leave!
To share the music we’re composing during this residency, we would like to invite you to join us on Wednesday the 19th of October at 7pm for a free, outdoor concert at the New Marina (in the open space in front of Mori Sushi).
The Nile Project is an initiative that was developed by Mina Girgis (an ex-OHD employee) to bring together artists from the 11 Nile countries to make music that inspires Nile citizens to collaborate on innovative solutions that address our shared water challenges. Now in its 5th year, the Nile Project Collective has grown to include more than 35 artists and the initiative has just launched its Nile Fellowship program on university campuses across Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya,Uganda and Tanzania.
Described by the New York Times as “a committed, euphoric international coalition,” Nile Project musicians convene once a year for their Nile Gathering where they collaborate on composing music that combines their diverse musical styles, instruments, and languages. We’re delighted to be in El Gouna for our 5th Nile Gathering. We’ll be making music at the Embassy of Knowledge / Library of Alexandriaeveryday from October 10 to October 19. So please come say hi!
