Rasha Amin Art Exhibition

The young and talented Rasha Amin graces El Gouna with her lovely paintings at the TU Berlin, in the Art Forum. The exhibition opened September 5th, and will run until the end of December 2016.

Rasha has called her exhibition The Renaissance 'ctrl+d'

"ctrl+d" stands for duplication in the digital world. Since in the real world we find repetitive actions and experiences of violence, hatred, and loneliness. Unfortunately reality connects to the digital world, especially with the rise of social media. As research has shown, this digital world can make us more isolated,  increase our negativity, violence, anger and allow hatred to grow within us.

Rasha Amin earned a BFA in Interior Design in 2003 from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Helwan University in Egypt. Since then, she has been working as a visual artist and a graphic designer, creating paintings alongside her designs and illustrations.

With time and practice in the multiple fields, she has found an intersection point between them and subsequently developed her own visual and conceptual vocabulary. Rasha has been inspired by the Italian artist Caravaggio's Mixed Media on Canvas, 2013-2015.

The exhibition: "The Renaissance  Ctrl+D":
At: TU Berlin- in the Art forum
The opening was on 5th of September, and  the exhibition will be running till the end of December 2016
Open times: Daily 9am to 8pm.

The Nile Project, Live in El Gouna - Wed 19th October

After concerts at the Lincoln Center in New York, the Barbican in London, and the European Union in Brussels, the Nile Project has landed on your Red Sea shores for a 10-day music residency at the Embassy of Knowledge. We’re only two days into our artist residency and we already don’t want to leave!

To share the music we’re composing during this residency, we would like to invite you to join us on Wednesday the 19th of October at 7pm for a free, outdoor concert at the New Marina (in the open space in front of Mori Sushi).

The Nile Project is an initiative that was developed by Mina Girgis (an ex-OHD employee) to bring together artists from the 11 Nile countries to make music that inspires Nile citizens to collaborate on innovative solutions that address our shared water challenges. Now in its 5th year, the Nile Project Collective has grown to include more than 35 artists and the initiative has just launched its Nile Fellowship program on university campuses across Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya,Uganda and Tanzania.

Described by the New York Times as “a committed, euphoric international coalition,” Nile Project musicians convene once a year for their Nile Gathering where they collaborate on composing music that combines their diverse musical styles, instruments, and languages. We’re delighted to be in El Gouna for our 5th Nile Gathering. We’ll be making music at the Embassy of Knowledge / Library of Alexandriaeveryday from October 10 to October 19. So please come say hi!

WORK MAGIC RETREAT WITH ANAÏS BOCK

This retreat marks a journey to project/business planning, rooted in creativity, active dreaming, intuition and gentleness. We spend a full day going through each of the four phases of the Work Magic Method – Dream, Plan, Express, and Celebrate.

    • Dream is about tapping into your intrinsic motivation and allowing desire to surface in a safe space, free of judgment, ego or action-driven thoughts about manifestation. In the process of freeing what we desire, we become aware and gently let go of tags, opinions and self-judgments that inhibit out growth.
    • Plan takes us through a process of playful priority identification, by exploring what we could do on different trigger layers, inviting participants to explore beyond the brain-driven and obvious courses of action. Self-care is baked into our planning.
    • Express gives us the communication tools in order to turn our dream project into a reality by bringing support on board. In expressing, we identify last blockages we may feel in our body or our words when we share our idea and let them go. We are left with a communication tool that we can use for securing support or as the foundation for our marketing material.
    • Celebrate gives us the space to be rather than do. It is the space for information to ripen into knowledge, for the integration of all that we have learned and in order to prepare ourselves for the next phase out there, of making it all happen…
Who is this retreat for?
The Work Magic Retreat is for women who seek. Women who are fed up with the confines of traditional business, who are ready for a work reality that feels good, on all levels – body, mind and soul. More concretely, these women are yearning for a guiding system that will allow them to act and create in a structured manner, but leaves enough room for the natural ebb and flow of their being and for them to spread their wings.
What do you get out of this retreat?
    • An incredible experience of self-discovery and deep bonding with like-minded people
    • A guided process from too many ideas/confusion to a grounded project with roots and wings.
    • A project management tool to identify priorities.
    • A pitch that feels good and will help mobilize support, feedback, money and clients.
How will the day flow?
Every day begins gently with a yoga practice and healthy breakfast after which we come together in a circle discovery and creation. The workshop time is interactive and appeals to all learning types, with movement, self-journaling, interactive elements in pairs and in the plenum. There is a tea break around noon and a long break for lunch, recovery, integration and resting. After a present afternoon session, we enjoy a light dinner together.
What else is included?
    • Full board accommodation at the Sheraton Miramar
    • Healthy and detoxifying foods
    • Daily yoga and mediation sessions
    • Transportation from Cairo to El Gouna and back
    • The opportunity to book a photographer for a private shoot for a small additional fee
