The Cross Egypt Challenge (CEC) is a relatively new event that was introduced to Egypt in 2011. It is a cross country scooter rally that begins in Alexandria and travels down the country, this year running down the Red Sea coast and making a one night/one day stop in El Gouna.
At the moment, organizers are expecting an arrival in El Gouna on Thursday 27th of October and a departure, for the ongoing leg, on the 28th. The caravan will be hosted at the Arena Inn downtown with a reception at the Sultan Bey.
The Cross Egypt Challenge is one of the top international sports events in the world and runs yearly in Egypt with the attendance of many international adventure riders. The associated media covering the event plays an important role in promoting Egypt and reminding audiences that Egypt is a safe and fascinating destination. Each year the challenge features a different route throughout the best parts and tracks of Egypt. In 2016, the proposed route will pass by the Red Sea coast, with El Gouna/Hughada a major stop on the route.
This year the convoy will be made up of:
75 – 85 people
11 Nationalities
18 Motorcycles
30 Scooters
2 Vans
1 Large cargo truck
1 Fuel carrier
5 Cars (4X4 + Sedan)
Coordination with relevant government ministries and approvals for the route have been obtained and organizer Mr. Ahmad Elzoghby is expecting a memorable and fun rally for all the riders.
The rally route will take the convoy on to Hurghada, Sahl Hashish and Soma Bay.
