Rasha Amin earned a BFA in Interior Design in 2003 from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Helwan University in Egypt. Since then, she has been working as a visual artist and a graphic designer, creating paintings alongside her designs and illustrations. With time and practice in the multiple fields, she has found an intersection point between them, and subsequently developed her own visual and conceptual vocabulary.
Amin daringly experiments with artistic conceptual approaches and techniques to develop new and creative ways to making art. She draws inspiration from dramatic scenes in films, novels and everyday events and scenes, in an attempt to subjectively reproduce them. Her body of work is hugely influenced by current political, social, and gender issues; especially in the age of social media which often evokes negative reactions. So naturally, she saw the boundaries between her art practice and daily life blur, and grows them closer together. In her process, she infuses emotional, intellectual, and sensual aspects in order to build a dialogue with the viewers and ultimately create an open space for questions, and thinking beyond the artworks themselves.
