Happy Faces at Orphans Day

On Friday 1st April the Rotary Club of Red Sea - El Gouna members organised a special day out for 33 orphans from the 'Madrasa Taquwa' school in Hurghada.

The day began transporting the children by bus to Senzo Mall south of Hurghada. The bus was accompanied by riders from the Soul Seekers Motorbike Club with their gleaming and powerful motorbikes. An area had been reserved outside McDonald's restaurant for the children to play, and the fun began immediately with a Ronald McDonald Clown and face painting. Each child wore a bright blue smiley-face Rotary T Shirt and white Rotary baseball cap.

Before lunchtime, the children enjoyed an hour inside Kidzo playground inside the mall playing on dodgem car rides, climbing frames, swings, and other electronic amusements.

McDonalds provided everyone with a complimentary Happy Meal and Care For Dolphins had sent dolphin awareness sheets for coloring. Games were held on the grass and then the Soul Seekers invited the children to take turns wearing crash helmets and enjoy a quick ride on the motorbikes.

Before returning to their school, each child received presents of toys from KAMS, cookies from Seventh Star, and a bag with the El Gouna logo.

The following day Frogs Swim Academy held a sponsored swim at Sail La Vie in El Gouna to raise funds for the next Rotary Club Orphans Project to organise a dolphin spotting trip.

The Rotary Club of Red Sea - El Gouna would like to thank everyone who kindly helped make this Orphans Day event so special.

  1. Lovely article about a great day. It's a bit of a shame that the swimming event held by Frogs Swim Academy at Sail La Vie in El Gouna and which raised over 1000LE to fund the Orphans Day on the 1st April to support the Rotary Club only got a brief mention. It was a brilliant event which was pulled together at the last minute and Georgina Cole took some great photos of the swimmers and the sponsors. Maybe next week??...
